Holiday course Ages 12 to 16 Court-Saint-Étienne

In the morning, they learn AI. In the afternoon, they work for a real company.

Maître de l'IA (“AI Master”) is a five-day course for young people in their 1st to 4th year of secondary school. They learn to use artificial intelligence with method and a critical mind, then apply it as a team to a brief set by a major company in Walloon Brabant. The course is taught mainly in French; questions in English are welcome.

A real brief from a real company

Every afternoon, the young people work in teams, like a small agency. Their client is not made up: it is a major company in Walloon Brabant, to be revealed in the coming days. It gives them a real brief, with real constraints, and on Friday the teams present their results to it.

  1. Investigation

Understand the brief, the target audience and the company's constraints.

  2. Ideas

Come up with plenty before choosing: 50 ideas, then 3 concepts per team.

  3. Prototype

Shape the chosen concept, with visuals and the client's real constraints.

  4. Production

    A 60-second video, a poster and a rehearsed presentation.

  5. Presentation

On Friday, in front of the client company's management.

A typical week

5 days, 5 mental gestures, 1 real brief

One common thread from Monday to Friday. Each day highlights one of the five mental gestures described by the French educationalist Antoine de La Garanderie, in the order in which they build on each other.

  • Morning, 9am to 12pm: learning AI with method
  • Afternoon, 1pm to 4pm: the brief
  1. Monday

    Attention

    Morning

How an AI predicts its answers. Comparing assistants. The course rules.

    Afternoon

Receiving the company's brief, forming the teams, investigating.

  2. Tuesday

    Reflection

    Morning

The prompt lab: writing good instructions, iterating, using AI as a critic.

    Afternoon

Ideas: 50 ideas, then 3 concepts per team.

  3. Wednesday

    Understanding

    Morning

Check before you believe: errors, sources, deepfakes. Copyright. The environmental cost of AI.

    Afternoon

Prototype, visuals, testing against real constraints.

  4. Thursday

    Memorisation

    Morning

The production chain. How to structure a convincing presentation.

    Afternoon

    60-second video, poster, rehearsal.

  5. Friday

    Imagination

    Morning

Presenting the results to the client's management. Certificates handed out.

    Lunch and afternoon

    Lunch and closing activity, included.

Every day, a morning snack at 10am and an afternoon snack at 2:30pm are included. From Monday to Thursday, each child brings a packed lunch; on Friday, lunch is included. Drop-off from 8:45am.

Two groups, one common thread

Both groups follow the same week and the same brief. Exercises and expectations are adapted to their age. The group depends on the school year attended in 2026-2027 (Belgian French-speaking system).

Group 1

Apprentis

1st and 2nd year of secondary school, 12 places at most

“Apprentices”: discover, try out and understand what an AI really does. Some assistants have a minimum age of 13 or 18: the youngest then work with tools allowed for their age or on the instructor's computer.

Group 2

Compagnons

3rd and 4th year of secondary school, 12 places at most

“Journeymen”: the same stages, with more autonomy within the team, more systematic cross-checking of sources and more polished work.

The method

More doing than listening. Input is short and put to use straight away, on an exercise or on the brief.

Hands on the keyboard
Every idea is tested immediately. The young people compare, correct and try again: doing is how they understand what AI can and cannot do.
Mental management
Antoine de La Garanderie's five mental gestures (attention, reflection, understanding, memorisation, imagination) structure the week, one gesture a day. The young people discover how they learn, not only what they learn.
Cognitive neuroscience
It sets the pace of each day: alternating learning and doing, coming back to what has been understood, giving attention working periods it can handle.
Transactional analysis
It supports the group dynamic: clear rules from Monday, roles within each team and a way of talking to each other that leaves room for everyone.
Responsible use
Age-appropriate tools. No personal data or photo of a young person is ever entered into an AI. Copyright, source checking and environmental cost are part of the programme.
Atypical profiles are welcome
High potential, ADHD, dyslexia and related learning differences: the course is also designed for minds that work differently. Tell us in the form what helps your child.

The team

Two instructors for the whole week, with the same young people from Monday to Friday.

Cédric Guénard

Co-designer and instructor

Language teacher since 2006, now at Collège Saint-Étienne. Trained in mental management (levels 1 to 4) and transactional analysis. Neurocognitive support practitioner (guenard.be), artificial intelligence trainer for companies and training organisations, managing director of QUINLAY COMMUNICATION SRL.

Since autumn 2026, he has been running the “Rencontres autour de l'IA” workshop on AI at the school for 3rd and 4th year students.

Philippe Loneux

Co-designer and instructor

Adult trainer, project manager and team manager in the human resources department of a large company. Now a teacher, he works with teenagers every day: he knows how to capture their attention, get them involved and start from their reality to help them progress.

A business owner and website creator, he automates a good part of his work with AI. From this background, he holds one conviction: AI is a powerful tool, to be used ethically and responsibly.

Your questions

A question that isn't here? Write to cedric@guenard.be.

In which language is the course taught?

Mainly in French. Cédric Guénard is also an English teacher: a young person who is still learning French can ask questions in English and will be helped. Tell us in the form if this is the case.

Does my child need to know how to code?

No. The course requires no programming knowledge. Most of the work is done with language: writing precise instructions, reading answers with a critical eye, checking, producing. Knowing how to use a computer is enough.

What should my child bring?

The course takes place in the secondary school computer rooms of Collège Saint-Étienne. From Monday to Thursday, please bring a packed lunch and a water bottle. Detailed practical information is sent by email about two weeks before the course.

What about accounts on AI tools and minimum ages?

Some assistants have a minimum age of 13 or 18. We follow these rules: the youngest work with tools allowed for their age or on the instructor's computer.

What happens to my child's data?

No personal data or photo of a young person is entered into an AI during the course. The information in the form is used only to organise the course and to contact you. It is never sold. Details are in the privacy policy.

How do meals work?

A morning snack at 10am and an afternoon snack at 2:30pm are provided every day. From Monday to Thursday, each child brings a packed lunch. On Friday, lunch is included. Please mention any allergies in the registration form.

What are the hours? Is there before or after care?

The course runs from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. Drop-off starts at 8:45am. There is no childcare before or after these hours.

What if we need to cancel?

Cancellation is free up to 30 days before the course. Between 30 and 14 days before, half of the price is refunded. Less than 14 days before, there is no refund, but the place can be moved to a later session or transferred to another young person.

My child has an atypical profile. Is the course right for them?

Young people with high potential, ADHD, dyslexia or related learning differences are welcome. The pace alternates short input and practice, in small groups of 12 at most. Cédric Guénard is a neurocognitive support practitioner. Tell us in the form what helps your child: we will take it into account.
